Inspired by iconic filmmaker Jacques Tati, Perry Ellis’ collection looked to classic resortwear for the season’s vision. From the sidewalks of the city to the sand of the beaches, Perry Ellis creative director John Crocco delivered a collection of refined suiting and beachwear cut from rich varied corals and light spring hues.

The color palette—a mélange of sherbet colors like orange, peach, and muskmelon—was straight out of “Mon Oncle,” while the midcentury Riviera feel came from “M. Hulot’s Holiday.” The wavy hair and the jazzy piano trills on the soundtrack added to the air of simple and restrained elegance, just right for a late summer trip to the shore.

For the finale, the models returned in a selection of colorful and printed swim trunks, a fitting reminder that less is more when it comes to the classics. I’m not sure how the fellas will feel about coral, but the collection is classic with clean lines.
