Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week: Cynthia Rowley S/S 2011

via Style.com

Cynthia Rowley’s spring collection is fun and flirty, but circles are the main feature. These round cutouts add a sexy peek-a-boo edge to pencil skirts and sheath dresses. Sometimes they are used allover to create a jumbo eyelet effect in sheer delicate fabrics. The pieces looked as if Rowley had taken a giant hole punch to the pieces to shake things up a bit.  Where there weren’t holes, there were large embellished circles artfully placed on anything from slim pants to a shift top.

The palest shades of pink, blue, celadon and putty are paired with pops of mustard and coral with basic black and white is quite prevalent throughout the collection.

The entire show had a very 70s mod feel to it, with overly boxy shift dresses and slim fitting pants.  The sheer paneling and overlay had the effect of making some of the more feminine pieces a bit more edgy, instead of making them seem more feminine.

Celebs spotted: Rebecca Romijn, Nigel Barker (ANTM), Tracee Ellis Ross (Girlfriends) and Aisha Tyler (actress and comedian).
